Fažana liegt im südwestlichen Teil der Westküste Istriens im Fažana Kanal und ist der Ausgangshafen für die Inseln Brijuni- Nationalpark mit den Attributen des Himmes. Wird auch als die Perle der Westküste, der größten kroatischen Halbinsel, genannt. Die Bevölkerung war schon immer in der Fischerei und der Landwirtschaft tätig. Dort trafen die Römer, Venezianer, Byzantiner aufeinander und die Österreich-ungarischen Militär und zivil Behörden. Josip Broz Tito (ein revolutionär und ehemaliger Präsident von Jugoslawien) ging zum ersten Mal aus Fažana nach den Inseln Brijuni.
